The Ribbon of the people is a competition entry with Honglin Li for the 1871 Chinese Massacre Memorial in Los Angeles, California.
Inspired by traditional Chinese ribbon dancing and Chinese character, the memorial is envisioned as a sculptural ribbon, sinuous in form and graceful in its movement. The Ribbon emerges from the ground as it unearths buried history and then reaches for the sky, bringing visibility to the marginalized.
